Some indices of resistance to hyperthermia in the course of acute radiation sickness

Popis:	Three hours after irradiation in a dose of 800 rd rats were found to be less resistant to subsequent hyperthermia (45°C) than control animals. An increase in resistance to acute hyperthermia was found at the end of the 3rd day after irradiation. At the climax of radiation sickness (end of the 5th day) the time of onset of heat stroke and the duration of subsequent survival of the rats were indistinguishable from the corresponding values in the control. The dynamics of the response to hyperthermia correlated to some degree with the dynamics of thyroid and adrenal gland function in the irradiated animals.
