Popis: | In this paper, we present improvements on the magnetostrictive delay line (MDL) resolution under pulsed operation, defined as the minimum distance between two, simultaneously excited, acoustic stress points of origin, which result in two discrete and not superimposing voltage output pulses. In all MDL-based sensing devices presented in the past, such resolution was not better than 8 cm. We recently obtained a resolution of 1 mm, by using 125 μm amorphous Fe78Si7B15 wires, tested after treatment, in an appropriate geometric arrangement. |
