Popis: The largest user of explosives is the mining industry with smaller amounts used for weapons and research shock wave generators. Three general types of explosives exist based primarily on shock amplitude required to initiate them, which is called shock sensitivity. A primary explosive can be initiated by a small amplitude shock. booster explosive requires only a few kilobar shock to initiate it. A secondary high explosive (HE) requires a several kilobar shock to initiate. Secondary high explosives will be the material of interest in this book. A number of excellent reviews of this subject are available in the literature [1–6].
