Popis: The use of new digital technologies for communication of scientific information is from several years now a reality that coexists with the more traditional paper based documentary typologies used in higher education. This paper, framed within the project "Technological literacy at the university: devices and applications for research", funded by the Memory of D. Manuel Solorzano Barruso Foundation of the University of Salamanca, analyzes search, access and consumption patterns related to scientific journals within the academic community of the University of Salamanca (USAL), in order to determine the degree of technological literacy within the institution, and its application in teaching, learning or research. Similarly, there are targeted some of the underlying causes of observed behavior patterns. An online e-survey is held through Google Drive's questionnaire tool, collecting a statistically representative sample of the population: students and teaching and research staff of the University of Salamanca. Access to scientific information through electronic journals is already the majority choice within the university community, although there are significant behaviour differences in relation to aspects such as membership in a particular branch of knowledge, role within academic community or perceived levels of reliability. In any case, technological literacy deficiencies are found, that prevent, at least, use and digital consumption experience improvement related to available resources.
