The Navigating Resettlement Research Project set out to break the silence about the lived experience of young refugees. Listening to the educational aspirations, hopes, desires and dreams of young refugees from their own perspectives, and hearing their feelings and wished in their own voices, challenges practitioners and those involved in policy-making in this area to rethink educational engagement strategies for this group of migrants. Specifically the report presents a tri-menu model of informal education that incorporates a creative space, mentoring and study skills and IT media design as a way to prepare young refugees to open doorways to their future employment and educational aspirations. |
