In opening the discussion, Dr. Grotta commented to Dr. Ringelstein: “That was a beautiful presentation. My neurologic fellow lives with our patients for the first 24 h doing serial transcranial Dopplers because of the amount of data that must be obtained. I wonder whether you have noticed a relationship between late recanalization and patients who deteriorate from cerebral edema? In other words, I know you presented your data about improvement in relationship to recanalization, but what about deterioration from edema with patients who have rather late recanalization?” Dr. Ringelstein replied that he could not answer the question because this aspect was not investigated. |
