Popis: | An investigation has been carried out into the flow pattern existing in and around a flat spray, particular attention being paid to the region of disintegration of the liquid sheet. The mass of air entrained into the spray, the decay of air velocity along the spray axis, and the spread of the drops in the plane normal to that of the sheet have been related to the operating conditions by equations theoretically derived and experimentally confirmed. Similarities between the characteristics of air entrainment into liquid sprays and into gas jets have been noted. |
