There are some problems such as high labor costs and low efficiency in the cabbage artificial trimming treatment. Aiming at the target of the automated and high-throughput operations, the automatic trimming method of “clamping - detecting - cutting” was proposed. The physical characteristic parameters of cabbage were measured including the size, weight and sphericity, which have great influence on the structural design of the trimming device. Then the trimming mechanism of cabbage was analyzed by the theoretical calculation, and the factors affecting the effect of trimming were determined. The shear properties test of the cabbage root was carried out, characterized by the cutting force, and the results were analyzed. The shear results showed that the cutting force of root in trimming operation was slightly higher than that during harvesting, which was more likely to cause damage, mainly because of the different operation process and shear method. Finally, the storage test of cabbage trimmed was performed, and the effect of different trimming parameters on the weight loss rate was indicated, which further proved the feasibility and necessity of cabbage trimming. The researches illustrate that the method can realize the real-time determination of the cutting position during the post-harvest treatment and complete the trimming processing. It solves effectively the problem of cabbage commercialization and provides reference for the research and optimization of automatic cabbage trimming equipment. |
