Popis: Lumbar and cervical disc herniations are medical problems that affect the quality of life. The purpose of this study was to compare the quality of life in patients with lumbar and cervical disc herniations. The degree of pain in all patients was assessed by the Million visual analogue scale, disability in patients with lumbar disc herniation by the Oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire, disability in patients with cervical disc herniation by the neck disability index, quality of life by functional limitation profile, occupational handicap in all patients by the occupational handicap scales of the World Health Organization and status of depression in all patients by the Zung depression scale. Quality of life was lower and occupational handicap was greater in the patients with lumbar disc herniation than in those with cervical disc herniation. Intensity of pain and depression and disability were not significantly different in the two groups.
