Popis:	The lattice distortion around vacancy sites in CoGa has been investigated by diffuse X-ray scattering. The distortion is restricted to a narrow area around the defect and is characterized by atomic shifts in a 〈 111〉 direction comparable to the β-ω transition in some b.c.c. lattices.
