Popis: | Transputers provide support, in hardware and microcode, for concurrency and communication. This support includes communication links for connecting transputers together and two hardware timers which can be used for interval measurement or for realtime scheduling. An important application of modern microprocessor systems is realtime control and Occam provides many features for this purpose. One of these is the timer, a means of measuring time periods and generating time delays. This note describes some aspects of timers on the transputer, using Occam. It shows some simple ways in which timers can be used in Occam programs. The transputer implementation of timers is described. Some examples are taken from Occam programs which illustrate various aspects of the use of timers. |
