Popis: We argue that hopping transport in the presence of Hubbard interaction is affected by a relaxation mode. The relaxation mode governs the diffusion and the decay of excitations of the system. We discuss the new problems that result from the consideration of the relaxation mode and outline first results of an effective medium formulation, which takes into account both the diffusion mode and the relaxation mode on equal footing. Doing so, we restrict the consideration to the nearest-neighbor hopping (NNH) regime. Our calculation shows that the hopping length for excitations is strongly affected by the relaxation. The relaxation decreases the hopping length of excitations. The reduction of the hopping length depends on the Hubbard interaction strength and on the filling of the system.
