Popis: The primary objective of this field evaluation was to determine the field acceptance and nutritional consumption of the MRE and Heat & Serve Ration (H&S). This information was obtained by collecting food acceptability ratings, ration consumption and overall ration opinions for nine consecutive days. The H&S ration was served for the breakfast and dinner meals while the MRE was served solely for the lunch meal. This evaluation was conducted 2 - 11 September 1995 at the Yakima Training Center, Yakima, WA. The evaluation found most ration items acceptable for field feeding. All MRE items (rated by more than 10 soldiers) were well received with both variety and ration acceptability. Most H&S breakfast and dinner items received acceptability ratings above 5.0, the mid-point of the 9-point acceptability scale. Positive findings of nutrient intake include fat and sodium intake levels falling somewhat below the recommended NSOR while less desirable findings include caloric intake falling below the NSOR of 3600 calories.
