Popis: This chapter describes the outline of methods to evaluate effects of installing variable countermeasure techniques for adapting the negative effects of the heat island phenomena on the urban climate. This chapter includes the following contents: (1) relationship between thermal environment and responses from pedestrians, (2) mechanisms and modeling of human thermoregulation, (3) evaluation scales, and (4) evaluation method based on both field measurement and numerical analysis. From these descriptions, it was understood that the evaluation and the examination based on the heat budget in the human body are required at the investigations by using both the field measurement and the numerical analysis because the heat budget significantly affects the thermal comfort for the pedestrians.
