Detection of localized moments of the 3d series by electron energy-loss spectra

Popis:	The transmission spectra of electrons from the 3p→3d transition of Cr, Mn, Fe, Co and Ni have been measured and analyzed to obtain information about the localization of the d states. By combining this data with soft X-ray emission data we obtain the interband exchange splitting for Fe, Co and Ni to be ≈1.7 eV/μB.
