Popis: High-resolution acoustic techniques to image details of the sub-sea bottom structure, must devote particular care to the duration, the primary to bubble ratio and the repeatability of the acoustic pulse (Parkes et al., 1986). The ideal pulse should be an impulse response representable mathematically by a Dirac delta function, i.e. a very short pulse containing all frequencies. Bubble pulse due to acoustic cavitation (Prosperetti, 1984) is a drawback always present in underwater prospecting and its minimization avoids the need of a complex pulse shape deconvolution.
