Popis: False interpretations of geochemical data occur frequently in investigations involving variables with constant sums. The three examples discussed here serve to illustrate more clearly the extent of the “closure” problem. They include the following: (1) correlations of a system of major and minor components; (2) triangular diagrams as graphical representations; and (3) ratios in scatter diagrams.
