Popis: | In the present study, we have re-visited Musa taxonomy based on morphological and molecular data. DNA sequence data (ITS, trnL-F) and population assessment reveal that Musa balbisiana var. andamanica and Musa sabuana should be synonymized under Musa balbisiana. Based on the present work, we recognize four species of Musa namely M. acuminata, M. balbisiana, M. indandamanensis, and M. paramjitiana in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. |
