Popis: For the first time, the pedogeochemical contents of some rare earth elements, namely neodymium (Nd), cerium (Ce), lanthanum (La), yttrium (Y), scandium (Sc), and hafnium (Hf), have been investigated in soils and grapevines (leaves) of vineyards in the small municipality of Alcubillas (La Mancha, Central Spain). The content of the elements was determined using an X-ray fluorescence spectrometer in solid mode on a powdered aliquot of each sample (soil or leave). Soil REE concentrations were not as elevated as the territory close to the site under investigation, that are potentially affected by mining of these elements. The order of concentrations follows the general order Ce > La > Nd > Y > Sc > Hf. The bioaccumulation coefficient (BAC) is low, in the range 0.05–0.25, which suggests that leaves only take up rare earth elements in small amounts. The results provide pedogeochemical baseline data for vineyards (soil and plant) not only in the study area but also for similar vineyard zones, with similar environmental conditions.
