A framework for design of area-efficient Data Format Converters (DFCs) with high throughput rate is given. DFCs are classified into various categories according to the specification of input design parameters. We show a design methodology for two representative categories of DFCs, asynchronous and synchronous DFCs. Our DFC designs are based on a two-dimensional architecture. Compared with known techniques, our two-dimensional design scheme results in area-efficient designs and the designs have maximum throughput. |
