Popis: In situ hybridization (ISH) techniques are molecular methods of detecting and localizing nucleic acid sequences within histologic and cytologic specimens. Although ISH using radio-labeled nucleic acid probes has been used in research for about 30 years, ISH with nonisotopic probes is now entering clinical use. ISH is used in hematologic specimens to detect viruses, cytokines, oncogene expression and cytogenetic abnormalities, and cellular products associated with cell lineage and clonality.
