Popis: | The dust attrition of granular activated carbon is identified as a particleto-particle wear process between moving particles of the activated carbon. A simple vibration test is described in which a sample container with a wire mesh bottom is vibrated at a known acceleration. A constant air flow is withdrawn beneath a particulate-grade glass filter and the weight of dust deposited on the filter determined after six sequential vibration periods of 10 min each. The rate of dust attrition is then calculated. The experimental parameters that influence the attrition results are the vibrational acceleration, the particle size distribution, the time on the vibrator and, above all, the source of the activated carbon. |
