The sheathless system is the most effective method to reduce approach site-related complications in a small artery such as the radial artery. The system consists of a combination of a guiding catheter and an appropriate dilator which is adjusted to the inner diameter and length of the guiding catheter. This system also provides more device compatibility which is restricted by the radial artery size. “The Slender Sheathless System (SSS)”, which uses guiding catheters no more than 5 Fr, is especially suited for small arteries, such as arteries of women, Asian, or a distal radial artery. The Sheathless slender catheter is designed to reduce the trauma of the puncture site therefore resulting in less radial artery bleeding and occlusion. We have completely substituted our PCI for the SSS for a decade. This chapter addresses the techniques and problems of SSS as a standard method. |
