Discovery of a low-temperature orthorhombic phase of the Cd2Re2O7 superconductor

Popis: The authors use inelastic light scattering experiments and density functional calculations to study instabilities of the tetragonal crystal structure of Cd${}_{2}$Re${}_{2}$O${}_{7}$. The paper shows a splitting of specific phonon modes below 80 K which is related to a phase transition to a new orthorhombic crystal structure described by the space group $F$222.
