Effective snow leopard conservation programs require understanding, input, and active support from the general public, scientific community, and government sectors. Building a constructive dialogue between all stakeholders allows for the sharing of information, ideas, solutions, and failures, and encourages collaboration in conservation programs targeted at saving snow leopards and supporting the people sharing their habitat. The nature of communication and tools available have changed dramatically through new technologies, enabling greater speed of communication, new ways of engagement, and the ability to reach larger audiences with more targeted messages. These developments have made collaboration with colleagues and communication with stakeholders easier and more common. Challenges in communication do remain, including language and cultural barriers, and lack of accessible information sources for remote villages. |
