Popis: | The phenomenon of the excitation of natural mechanical oscillations by pulsed light in high-ohmic single crystal plates of gallium arsenide has been discovered. The intensity of light-induced oscillations depends on the piezoelectric properties, electric conductivity, and internal friction parameter of the crystal. It is suggested that a bending deformation arises in the plate due to the inverse piezoelectric effect, which is caused by a gradient of the free charge carrier density in the region of optical absorption. |
