A cytorhabdovirus, tentatively named “patchouli chlorosis-associated cytorhabdovirus” (PCaCV), was identified in patchouli plant, using high-throughput sequencing. Its genome confirmed by Sanger sequencing comprises 12,913 nucleotides and contained five open reading frames in order of 3'-N-P'-P-P3-M-L-5'. The glycoprotein gene exhibited irregular patterns with stop codons in coding frame, hence this gene is considered as defective. PCaCV is more closely related to tomato yellow mottle-associated virus, sharing 38.7% nucleotide sequence identity of the complete genome and 73.9% amino acid sequence identity of the L protein. These analyses suggest that PCaCV is considered a new member of the genus Cytorhabdovirus. |
