Popis: | Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a risk factor for Tuberculosis morbidity and mortality. An increase in cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the world increases the risk of developing tuberculosis. The frequency of DM in TB patients is reported to be around 10-15% and the prevalence of this infectious disease is 2-5 times higher in diabetic patients compared to non-diabetic patients. Hemoptysis is a respiratory symptom that can be life threatening. Tuberculosis and bronchiectasis are the most common etiology causes of hemoptysis, TB patients with DM are the cause of recurrent hemoptysis. Methods: this is case control study, the observational data from medical records of DM infected TB patients who underwent hemoptysis and no hemoptysis. Sampling method are total sampling for pulmonary TB patients in treatment at Fatmawati General Hospital during 2017. Results: The result there were 12 hemoptysis patients with comorbid DM and 31 patients without DM co-morbidities. As many as 58% of patients with comorbid DM were new cases of pulmonary TB and 42% had a history of complete treatment. The relationship of hemoptysis of TB patients with DM compared with hemoptysis without DM obtained a relative risk of 1.535 CI 95% (0.677-2.618) Conclusion: The proportion of hemoptysis in TB patients with comorbid DM is 10.3%. Diabetes Mellitus is a risk factor 1,535 times for hemoptysis compared to TB patients without DM but statistically not significant. |
