Titanium aluminide alloys have excellent properties and oxidation resistance and are therefore being targeted as replacements for conventional Ti alloys and Ni-based super alloys in applications such as aircraft turbines and automotive engines. While TiAl alloys can be fabricated by conventional casting ang ingot metallurgy, using powder metallurgy (PM) technology virtually eliminates segregation and reduces the number of processing steps. |
