Popis: Figure 2. Schematic diagram of a median sagittal longitudinal section of a leaf apex. Measurements were taken in sample segments of the rachis of a single leaf at various distances from the apex, within and below the crozier. Sample segments were delimited by radii (R and R', in the segment diagramed), drawn at right angles to the rachis. Ground tissue cell lengths were measured in cell files along lines (AD, AB), drawn midway between the epidermis and the central core of the vascular tissue (VT) on the adaxial and abaxial sides of the rachis. The ratio of arc lengths along AB and AD was calculated between the radii in each segment.
