Popis: | Questions regarding symptoms, health behavior, and laboratory studies were obtained from agricultural producers participating at meetings targeted for specific commodity growers. Participants represented a broad range of workers and growers within four specific commodity groups. Over half were regularly under the care of the physician. The most common abnormal lab study was a total cholesterol followed by triglycerides, red blood cell count, glucose, and alkaline phosphatase. Farmers identified several self-reported symptoms possibly related to exposure: fatigability; needing to make notes to remember; trouble with memory; and irritability. As a marker of organophosphate exposure, the change in plasma cholinesterase activity varied over time and was related to commodity group. The change in red cell and plasma cholinesterase activities were also affected by age, urea nitrogen and albumin.
