Popis: The Integrity Model, based on O.H. Mowrer’s Integrity (Therapy) Group approach is a philosophical and existential framework of psychotherapy, viewing the human being as a valuing animal. Nearly 5 decades of Integrity-Model based work with men provides a body of clinical and empirical evidence for the viability of this approach in working with men across diagnoses and sociodemographic variables. Illustrated with a clinical case study, key therapeutic aspects of the Integrity Model are explored: (1) values analysis and ranking, (2) men’s receptivity to an existential therapeutic framework, and (3) vulnerabilities as one’s greatest strengths, challenging the literature’s predictions regarding the significant hurdles that therapists working with men must overcome. The genesis and evolution of this approach in several decades of advocacy for a positive view of men and their viable emotional voices are explored from a health promotion perspective.
