Popis: | Both the thermodynamic and the kinetic approaches to investigating the failure process make it possible to draw a conclusion about the existence of a safe stress for the calculation of which in uniaxial tension Eq. (8) has been proposed and in the complex stressed condition Eq. (11). On the basis of these equations a criterion for rating safe microcracks in a solid has been determined. The threshold of failure according to Griffiths σG corresponds to the safe stress σ(o) and not to the critical stress σcr, which until now has been generally accepted. |
