Evaluation of the Effectiveness of the Use of Adaptive Algorithms for Relay Protection of a Large Industrial Substation

Popis: Conventional relays have fixed settings, so it becomes difficult to meet protection requirements in changing power system conditions. The solution to this problem is adaptive protection, which can change its settings or performance in response to changes in the power system. To develop a mathematical model of the relay protection system, the MATLAB software package used, designed to calculate and analyze the steady-state operating modes of the power system, which allows static and dynamic experiments taking into account a large number of random variables. The main advantages of the obtained adaptive algorithms are an increase in the speed of relay protection devices, a decrease in the number of incorrect operations, a decrease in economic damage from an interruption in the power supply and a downtime of the technological process. These models make it possible to build a new model of an electrical network capable of fulfilling all these conditions in a complex.
