This paper presents more than 2 years of monitoring and analysis of operational data from a selected group of PV plants, installed in the frame of Italian “Conto Energia” incentive programme, which are representatives of technologies and kind of installations sharing the market. Module technologies in the considered PV plants are Si-poly, Si-mono and Si-a, while the installation typologies include free-standing, flat or sloped roof, building integration and sun tracking. The power size of PV generators varies from some kWp to 1 MWp, letting also to compare different kinds of inverter (one or more MPPT sections, string-inverter or centralinverter). The work is aimed at assessing the state of art of installed PV plants, focusing on the energy performance (versus the expected values), but also on arising problems in plant managing. The results of this work supply actual information of PV plant performance and reliability to PV system operators and governmental institutions, as also requested in the governmental decree of “Conto Energia” programme.
