Popis: | This paper describes an approach to data collection in a "folk-village society," that attempts to surmount those cultural differences between researcher and villager which so often result in communication breakdown. This approach overcomes the handicap of nonliteracy and improves on direct observation by expanding the number of subjects who can be studied. And it combines the multiseasonal breadth of an entire year with the depth of the intensive interview. It grew out of a study of patterns of communication behavior among the rural people of Nsukka Division in the former Eastern Region of Nigeria. The combination of techniques that was developed may be useful to other investigators. |
