Popis: The need of machining is to produce good quality products in low cost. This objective can be attained by selecting proper machining parameters, tool geometry and tool materials. In this manuscript, the influence of various process parameters on machining a grey cast iron with multilayer coated carbide tool under wet cutting condition were studied. The experiment has been carried out for turning operation at five different spindle speeds (rpm) and three feeds with 2.5 mm constant depth of cut. Multilayer (TiN+TiCN+Al2O3) carbide tool is the cutting tool used for this work, the cutting conditions were 400, 450, 500, 550 and 600 rpm spindle speeds and 0.20, 0.23 and 0.27 mm / rev feed rates. The experimental results are analyzed and optimum process parameters are find out with the help of conventional graphs. The optimum values obtained are 500 rpm; 0.23 mm/rev; and 1.2 mm (nose radius) for the work piece-cutting tool combination were used.
