This is a second replication of a previously registered project (see original at osf.io/5jb36, first replication at https://osf.io/3hgzj). The only modifications from the prior replication are (1) to the participant pool, which will in this case be University of Victoria undergraduate students in an effort to reduce noise and allow us to further explore the possibility of item-level effects, and (2) to the counterbalancing, with the assignment of some trivia claims to condition having been adjusted (i.e., some claims previously presented with a photo in CB1 and without in CB2 had those assignments flipped, and vice versa) in an effort to balance the 2 CBs on the basis of previous results. This was done because we unexpectedly observed the same pattern of differences across CBs in the results of both of the previous studies, suggesting our original CB configuration may have been contributing some systematic noise. |
