Subgenus Regiscolia Betrem & Bradley, 1964 Megascolia (Regiscolia) Betrem & Bradley, 1964: 441 (type species Scolia flavifrons Fabricius, 1775, by original designation). Guigliana Argaman, 1996: 196 (type species Sphex azurea Christ, 1791, by original designation; preoccupied by Betrem in Bradley & Betrem, 1967). Notes In a similar circumstance to that described under Phalerimeris above, Argaman (1996) regarded the name Guigliana as having been established by Bradley (1964a) despite appearing therein as a nomen nudum only. Argaman’s (1996) usage can be taken as establishing a new available name, but by then it was long preoccupied by Betrem’s (in Bradley & Betrem 1967) usage of it for a different taxon. |
