The topic of the graduate qualification work: "Management of individual traffic flows at a four-way intersection". This work is devoted to the study of the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg and identifying bottlenecks in it, i.e., a particular intersection and further improvement of traffic organization at it. The variants of traffic organization at the intersection of Prospekt Bolshevikov and Dybenko Street have been considered in this work. The duration of traffic light regulation cycle and traffic light phases at actual and predicted intensity were calculated, new phases of traffic light regulation were proposed, and a simulation model of the selected intersection with new phases was built. With the new phases, the length of congestion and vehicle travel time were less than with the existing phases. Among the causes of traffic accidents, the main ones are technical faults of vehicles, quality of roads, low level of training of drivers, violation of traffic rules. Also, one of the significant reasons is poor organization of road traffic. All of the above causes the relevance of this topic. |
