Popis: | Two new map projections have projection points with locations dependent upon the location of the area to be mapped. The projection surfaces are an elliptical cylinder tangent to the generating globe or spheroid along a central meridian and a cone tangent along a standard parallel. The projections are referred to as the Transverse Cylindrical Stereographic and the Conical Stereographic. The projection point moves along the spheroid nearly opposite the surface point to be mapped. The conversion formulas and the reverse computations are simple and exact. Near the central meridian or standard parallel the projections are nearly conformal; their area exaggeration is less than that of similar conformal projections. Included with the article are conversion subroutines and sample projections. |
