Popis: The effect of forming methods of vanadium-molybdenum oxide catalyst granules for the oxidation of acrolein to acrylic acid by dry powder compaction and wet powder extrusion on its catalytic properties and mechanical strength has been studied. An increase in the compaction pressure enhances the mechanical strength of the catalyst but reduces its activity due to diffusional limitations. The catalyst prepared by extrusion possesses reasonable mechanical strength and such a porous structure which prevents diffusional limitations.
