Popis: Grenada is the last volcanic island in the Lesser Antilles that has been home to Ocean Spirits, a local NGO who for two decades have been conducting sea turtle research and conservation efforts island-wide. The first opportunities to train as patrol researchers with Ocean Spirits was given to members of the local communities who relied of turtle fishing as a source of income. Tourism in Grenada is an important sector for the local economy. Conducted within appropriate guidelines, turtle-based tourism can be a positive force for the conservation of turtles. Additionally through tourism, the revenue can be spread throughout the surrounding communities.
