Minor elements deficiencies such as Fe and Mn lead to disturbances of some physiological and biochemical mechanisms. Indeed, these ions are directly involded in the primary photochemical process of photosynthesis. An unavoidable consequence is a perturbation of the PSII activity and a slow down of electron transport. These destructive effects on PSII were quantified by chl a fluorescence measured on samples of different plants known for their own sensibility (grape, maize, potato, colza). We have observed that each deficiency can be characterized by a specific variation of a fluorescence parameter. |
