Popis: | New environmental paradigm scale (NEP) (Dunlap & Van Liere, 1978) and its subsequent adaptations (Amerigo & Gonzalez, 2001; Dunlap, Van Liere, Mertig, & Jones, 2000; Vozmediano & San Juan, 2005) is widely used in American and European countries without the existence of a spanish version for use in Chile or the Southern Cone. The NEP and its most current version NEP-R, measures environmental beliefs including two broad dimensions: egocentrism and anthropocentrism, respectively, an orientation towards the protection or care of the environment and the other concerning the dominance and exploitation of man over nature. The NEP-R was applied to 760 adults from different cities of Maule, Bio-Bio and Metropolitan regions of Chile, obtaining a Cronbach’s alpha reliability of 0.757. A factor analysis yields two factors explaining 42% of the variance. These psychometric properties regarding spanish versions of the scale are discussed. |
