Gas thermometer for precision measurement of thermodynamic temperatures below 300�K

Popis: The authors discuss an apparatus for measuring thermodynamic temperatures of 3-300/sup 0/K by means of a constant-density gas thermometer. The main measuring device in the gas thermometer is a special mercury interference manometer. The flow cryostat for the range 2-300/sup 0/K is shown and the heat carriers are liquid or gaseous helium, hydrogen, and nitrogen. The thermodynamic temperatures measured by this thermometer have been transferred to several standard resistance thermometers made of platinum and rhodium-iron alloy. The gas thermometer examined here enables the measurement of temperatures on the thermodynamic scale with an error of not more than 1 mK.
