Popis:	By the action of dimethyl sulphate on 1-(2-pyridyl)-propanone-2 the corresponding quaternary N-methylpyridinium salt is prepared; by partial hydrogenation of this compound we obtained 1-(α-N-methylpiperidyl)-propanone-2 or methylisopelletierine in a yield of 47% of the theoretical calculated on α-picolylmethylketone.
