Popis: | The authers report a very rare case of gallbladder cancer accompanied by adenomyomatosis. A 38-year-old man who had been followed as adenomyomatosis of the gallbladder was admitted to the hospital because of severe right upper abdominal pain. He was diagnosed as segmental adenomyomatosis and acute cholecystitis with an incarcerated gallstone in the neck. Histological examination of the resected specimen following the cholecystectomy revealed papillary adenocarcinoma invading the subserosal layer in the fundal comparrtment of the gallbladder. Additional lymph nodes dissection and resection of the heaptic bed were performed on the 15th postoperative day. Microscopically no cancer remnants were recognized. Adenomyomatosis has been reported for its characteristic imaging diagnoses in numorous papers, but there has been no established opinion whether it correlates with gallbladder cancer, or not. Until quite recently, it is thought that its cancer change hardly occur and observation of the clinical course is permitted for the disease. We report this very rare case of adenomyomatosis associated with gallbladder cancer, together with a review of the literature. |
