We present a simple analytical model to account for the correlation between the gravity and interface concentration fluctuations during a crystal growth experiment in microgravity. The comparison of the predictions of the model with existing numerical and experimental data allows the identification a first order transfer function between the convective excitation and the composition response. The situation is far from being so clear for the hydrodynamic problem in the high frequency range, and more work is necessary to fully quantify the impact of an impulse g-jitter acceleration on the fluid velocity. In conclusion, we discuss the implications of our results on the design of future space experiments. |
