Popis: Communications and Power Industries, LLC (CPI) klystrons are populating the majority of sockets in the superconducting linac of the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The klystrons are rated for 550 kW or 700 kW peak at 805 MHz. The klystron production and factory test data provided confidence the device would provide reliable service. Seventy nine sockets have an accumulation over 5.5 million hours of filament operation and 5.0 million hours of high voltage operation to date. Only 3 klystrons have been removed from service since linac conditioning began in 2004.
